The first box Helissa Collagen saw the light of day in the spring of 2015. What preceded it, is inextricably linked to the life and the career path of serial entrepreneur Romana Ljubasová.
Driven by a desire to help people, to solve problems that improve the lives of her customers, Romana has a unique openly optimistic attitude to life. An eternal dreamer by nature, she has been successful in pursuing her passion of helping people when and where she can, and thus she has gained a considerable number of loyal customers and a reputation for credibility, honesty, and quality.
Having had in her efforts to study law at University rebuffed, Romana went on to become a qualified nurse. After several years of working within the health system she became disillusioned with the institutionalized thinking and the reluctance to change and develop. She moved to Austria for a short period where she improved her German before returning to the Czech Republic once again. There, she married, and with her husband successfully led a company which specialised in advocating and fighting for customer compensation from Insurance companies. She at last had fulfilled her desire to both help people and to work in the legal field.
From Success to Crisis to Success
After many years of success, Romana was faced with one of the greatest challenges of her life; suffering from burnout, she was faced with the breakup of her marriage. Romana packed her bags and flew to Thailand.
Romana considers this to be one of the best decisions she has ever made in her life, as whilst in Thailand Romana visited a Thai pharmacy where she first encountered the benefits of using collagen supplements. She was so enthusiastic with the results of taking collagen supplements that she was motivated to study the effects collagen has on the body.
The brand was born
After studying the vast amount of material about the effects of collagen and about which type of collagen is best for the human body, Romana went on a field trip to a Thai production facility where collagen is produced. She knew it was important that collagen is produced using cold water production methods and from seawater fish – this is the only way to achieve the highest quality and only then will the human body use it as if it produced naturally.
The main challenge Romana faced which she hadn’t anticipated was the many regulations and bureaucratic hurdles to import collagen from Thailand to the Czech Republic which proved impossible to circumnavigate. Collagen of a similar quality could not be sourced anywhere else in the world.
Rather than compromising quality, Romana decided to source production facilities in Europe. After much searching and a lot of hard work Romana was surprised to find herself in negotiations with the owner of a major pharmaceutical multinational recounting to him her journey, and how collagen was going to change the world for the better. After Romana had finished, the owner sat back and looked her in the eyes and said “Lady, I like you, let’s do it”. And so, the first box Helissa Collagen was born.

Today, Helissa Collagen has thousands of enthusiastic customers all around the world. It is available in all Czech and Slovak pharmacies, it is commonly distributed all over Europe and it is slowly penetrating Arab and American markets. It collects one positive review after another. Especially from women, who appreciate the fact that after the elimination of cellulite and stretch marks, it also improves the condition of skin, hair and nails.
